Our C&R developments team is very busy as we meet the demands of increased infrastructure activity around the country.

We recently purchased and rebuilt a Komatsu PC 1800 excavator, which has been positioned at the Winstone’s Quarry in Hunua, where overburden removal has been stepped up, also requiring us to add another Caterpillar D11T bulldozer and two 100 tonne Komatsu dumpers. We now have a fleet of ten 100 tonne and four 60 tonne dumpers working on that site.

We also purchased a further D11T dozer from the USA, taking our total fleet to six and have it working on the Taharoa Ironsands contract.

After inclement weather slowed our start, we are now making good progress on the Waikato Expressway section C earthworks behind Taupiri Mountain for Fulton Hogan. A total of 1.2 million cum cut to fill has to be completed on this job and we are currently achieving in the order of 10,000 cubic meters per day.

At Martha Hill in Waihi our team is unloading and tidying up, mainly maintenance of the pit slip – stabilising the top.

In December, we completed a significant removal of low-grade inter-burden rock for Greymouth Lime at Te Kuiti.

Our five-year contract at St Kilda Waterways new lifestyle housing subdivision in Cambridge is finished, with 285 sections sold. View at stkildawaterways.co.nz

With our new workshops completed and fully operational with refurbishment of plant, (see photo), we recently installed a new state of the art CNC milling machine to enable mechanical technician Paul Thomasen to carry out the most exacting tasks.

We have two new personnel on the team – Joel Paynter working as contracts supervisor and H&S development; and Ric Adams, contracts administrator currently working at the Newmont Mine at Waihi.
